10 April 2024 Exclusive video

I’m trying out a few ideas for future projects and this was a test to see if I could produce these 3 sculptural forms using spray paint as a base. This is an experiment with monochrome but i will try this with a few colour variations. Inspired by ancient artifacts and mystery, I may introduce a more figurative element to suggest ancient masks or symbols.

Chalk markers on black primed stretched canvas

3rd April 2024 In the studio

This was a quick studio experiment this morning, I will film a demo video later to show the technique in full but it is a very satisfying method of producing a range of marks and textures. I primed the canvas with a black acrylic spray but you could work with a ready primed black canvas. I used chalk markers of various colours and thin plastic to transfer the marks.
