This is not art

I'm filming a demo again today using the stencils I made a few weeks ago. Inspired by a negative comment on one of my videos. This is a play on words, the Knot and Heart are quite complex and took a while to cut but its worth taking time on these difficult stencils. I've always liked street art and graffiti, stencil work has been so popular recently due to the rise of Banksy and l always feel that it is an artform that anyone could have a try ( there's 1000's of YouTube demos to watch on the subject). I recently went to the Banksy exhibition in Glasgow and it was fascinating to see all the original stencils and examples of artwork. I know many disregard graffiti or street art, with these two stencils they really can be described as THIS IS NOT ART (Knot, Heart)

Spray paint

I’m continuing to film the new demo video today and I hope to have it ready for viewing on the YouTube channel later. I’m using Montana paint from the Gold series colours : Bazooka Joe, Frozen Raspberry and Shock White. POSCA pens are used for all the black outlines. This is a slow process so the video will be a series of close ups and details of the techniques.

In the studio

Changed the page name to Studio Blog, hope this will encourage interest in the daily posts. The Squarespace website builder now makes it easier to post to the blog including adding photos. When I post demo videos on the YouTube channel I will include behind the scenes information and details of materials used. I’m continuing to film the new demo today and will finish this sometime tomorrow.

New YouTube demo.

New demo on the way. Today I will be filming a demo for this new work that I've been designing and exploring for a few weeks. Using spray paint, hand cut stencils and POSCA pens, this will also be one of the new pieces added to my website shop. 2 canvas stretched primed panels 12" × 16" will be available in a variety of colours. Title will be revealed in the video. Demo should be ready for a premiere presentation tomorrow

Goodbye to Twitter (X), Facebook and Instagram

If you have been following my posts on my socials you will know that I've decided to take a break. I’m not sure for how long but I feel using this blog page on my website will be a more suitable place to share my daily activities, without the constant advertisements. Please feel free to post comments and I will reply as often as I can. I want to make these posts daily and will show what projects I’m currently working on.

Acrylic spray paint (Montana Gold colours) and POSCA pens on 12” × 16” stretched primed canvas.

Work in progress

Exploring the use of spray paint and POSCA pens on stretched canvas for a series of new works. I’m really pleased to work with different materials and to create these very graphic and controlled artworks, abstract with elements of my other styles, themes of technology and artificial intelligence, robotic humanoid figures, circuit boards and musical instruments. I plan to work on larger scale pieces in similar style.

Sorry for lack of posts

I have failed in my attempt to keep this blog page updated and I have really neglected posting new content and ideas. I have been working in the new studio and sorting a few minor problems as well as working on new artworks.

If you follow my YouTube channel you will know from my last post that I have decided to take a break, I no longer enjoy the process of uploading a video to the channel only to see it fail due to the constant changes with the way YouTube seem to promote videos from the smaller channels. I don’t like the constant flow of the adverts and it is becoming clear to me that the channel has no longer got the support (of YouTube) that it once had. In order for the channel to get back to the same stage of growth that it was achieving 3 years ago I would have to make 40 new videos each week!

I really enjoy working on the videos and it is always good to receive feedback and offer support I now hope to continue this with my new video page. I am now able to upload my videos to the website without first having to post them on YouTube. This is going to be much better for me and hopefully you (the viewers) I will make exclusive content and I will be removing many of my videos from the YouTube channel to post them on my new page. I hope that you will continue to enjoy the videos and hope they help to provide some inspiration. Take a look at the new page, although at the moment it is a work in progress and only has a couple of videos.

New Shipping charges

I will be updating the website shop and including more original artwork for sale, including many of the pieces from the YouTube demo videos. In order to make this process easier for myself and hopefully enable customers to add the correct postage to orders I have simplified this to 3 main categories Small, Medium and large for UK, Europe and Worldwide shipping. If you cannot find your country in the list of options please contact me and I will be able to include this. Thank you.

YouTube artwork

I’m offering all artwork created during my new YouTube demo videos for sale, an opportunity for you to own the piece that you can watch being created. I’ve been working on the format of my demos and I’ve been trying to make them easier for me to edit, this will mean that I can post regularly and hopefully inspire others to try the techniques for themselves.
